A Magistrate Court in Gombe on Tuesday remanded Muhammad Adamu Yayari, a special assistant on new media to Senator Muhammad Danjuma Goje, in police custody over a facebook post.
The embattled aide’s post was on the resignation of some ward executives of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yamaltu/Deba local government area of the state.
Yayari was arrested and detained at the Gomeb police command headquarters on Monday following a petition against him by the state secretary of the APC, Abubakar Umar S. Goro.
He was arraigned on Tuesday for offenses bothering on injurious falsehood and inciting disturbances which contradicted Sections 393 and 114 of the Penal Code Law.
The Police First Information Report (FIR) indicated that the accused person had on November 25, 2021, published “an injurious falsehood” on his personal facebook page.
The accused person, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The presiding judge, Chief Magistrate Mohammed Sulaiman Kumo, remanded the accused person in police custody and adjourned the case till December 6 to consider the bail application filed by his counsel.
