Lionel Messi wins Ballon d’Or award for the record-breaking seventh time ahead of Lewandowski who came runner up.
Paris Saint-Germain star was presented with the trophy at a star-studded gala in Paris on 29 November.
The Argentine striker was expected to win the award after leading his country to their first major trophy in 28 years which is Copa America.
He also played a crucial role in Barcelona’s Copa del Rey success last season in what proved to be his final trophy at the Camp Nou before completing a shock summer transfer to Paris Saint-Germain.
