Bandits have killed Sagir Hamidu, an APC chiefain in Zamfara state.
The politician was killed along Abuja – Kaduna highway Sunday evening.
Mr Hamida, who contested for the Zamfara governors’s seat in 2015 and 2019, was shot while on his way to Abuja from Kano.
An APC member told our reporter that the deceased was in Kano with the former Governor Abdulaziz Yari on Saturday to condole Aliko Dangote over the death of his brother.
“We learnt that Sagir went to Kaduna today (Sunday) but wanted to get to Abuja for an official engagement on Monday. We’ve been informed and Oga (Yari) has also been notified,” the source, who asked not to be named said.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE gathered that the bandits opened fire sporadically on moving vehicles around 4pm in Rijana, a bandits hub along the famous highway.
Several people have been confirmed abducted by the bandits.
