The Presidency has directed the Minister of Police Affairs, Mohammed Maigari Dingyadi, to present a shortlist of Deputy Inspectors-General (DGIs) and Assistant Inspectors-General (AIGs) to the president for his consideration for appointment as Inspector-General of Police, reports revealed.
It was also learnt that the presidency has directed the Police Service Commission (PSC) and the Department of State Services (DSS) to prepare confidential briefings on seven DIGs and AIGs, one of which will be considered for the Police’s highest position.
Reports also said that all the course mates IGP Mohammed Adamu, who are serving in different places, including former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), DIG Ibrahim Lamorde, had vacated their offices on Sunday.
There are strong indications that President Muhammadu Buhari may name Adamu’s successor any moment from now.
