The death toll from the 21-storey building that collapsed in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Monday last week has risen from 36 to 43, Gbenga Omotoso, Lagos commissioner for information and strategy, disclosed this on Sunday.
Omotosho said in a statement on Sunday that the body recovered on Saturday has brought the number of bodies retrieved from the rubble to 43.
The body of the owner of the collapsed building, Femi Osibona, was recovered from the rubble on Thursday.
The commissioner said there are 15 survivors and 49 persons have reported that their loved ones are missing.
There is still no official figure of how many people were in the building at the time of the collapse.
