The Kaduna State High Court on Friday vacated its order directing the Nigeria Correctional Service to release Sheikh Zakzaky’s wife, Zeenat Ibraeem, for coronavirus treatment.
The trial judge, Justice Gideon Kurada, had last week ordered the authorities to immediately treat her for coronavirus, following confirmation by both the Prosecution and the Defence counsels that Zeenat tested positive for coronavirus, during the secret trial of the Shi’ite leader and the wife.
Zakzaky and his wife had been detained in the facility since 2015.
However, the court reversed its initial order on Friday after an oral application by Haruna Magashi, on behalf of Femi Falana (SAN), head of Zakzaky’s legal team, who said the defendant has regained her health from COVID-19.
