No fewer than 12 people have been killed and several injured when bandits invaded Na’ikko village in Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Many houses were also set ablaze by the bandits, during the attack that happened at about 6 am on Friday.
The State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, confirmed the attack when he visited the refugee camp at Barkallahu on Friday.
Residents of Na’ikko who fled their villages are now taking refuge at Barkallahu, in the Igabi local government area of the state.
One of the victims, Nura Haruna, who lost a son and two brothers in the attack told journalists that the attack followed the abduction of a man and killing of his son by suspected kidnappers in a neighbouring community.
Haruna said the bandits, thinking that the crime was perpetrated by somebody in Na’ikko, stormed the village and started shooting at every person, killing many innocent persons.
He appealed to the authorities to fish out the perpetrators of the attack and bring them to justice.
