At least 2000 bandits’ moles have been arrested in Zamfara State as a result of the telecommunications shutdown and other measures against banditry in the state, Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Ibrahim Dosara, has said.
Dosara disclosed this in Kaduna State on Thursday while giving an update on the ongoing military operations in the state.
He said the suspected informants are undergoing serious interrogation for them to disclose their perpetrators and collaborators, adding that some of the informants had mentioned names of highly influential individuals as their collaborators.
He said the security agencies are working on the information given by the suspected informants to arrest those collaborators.
Dosara said many bandits have been neutralized by the security agencies across the state as many fled to neighbouring states like Sokoto and Katsina.
He said the telecoms ban will be lifted in Gusau, the state capital before the end of this week.
