A 10-year-old boy, Abba, has been murdered by his father in Kano after complaints from his stepmother.
The middle-aged father, Malam Lawal, beat his son to death with pestle after the boy’s stepmother reported that the deceased had developed a habit of staying long whenever he was sent on errands.
Irked by the stepmother’s complaint, the father reportedly locked the house and repeatedly hit the boy with a pestle, according to neigbours.
The enraged father, however, tried to run away when he discovered that the boy was dead. He was, however, arrested.
Spokesperson of the state police command, DSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed that the suspect was arrested.
“The police arrested the suspect, Lawal, at the Kano Abattoir while he was trying to escape. He will be charged after investigations,” Kiyawa said.
