Bandits have attacked Kittibawa community in Dutsin Ma local government area of Katsina state, killing two persons and abducting 17 others.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE gathers that the attack happened Thursday night around 11.
A local source, Jamilu Hayin Gada, told this newspaper that those killed included a 50 year old and a mentally deranged old man in the village.
Kittibawa is a community few meters away from Zobe Dam and most people of the village are farmers and fishermen.
Hayin Gada said, “they came around 11:20 in the night when most people of the village have retired to their homes. Throughout the attack, none of the people in the village could seek for help because there was no mobile network, so the bandits had easy access to the town.”
He added that the 17 people taken were mostly women and children.
“Those abducted include married women and girls. Only one man was taken but those killed were all men,” he said.
Mr. Hayin Gada added that the bandits have also vowed to attack more communities in the area.
The police spokesperson in the state, SP Gambo Isa, didn’t respond to calls from our reporter.
