No fewer than 50 people have been abducted by bandits in Bassa community in Shiroro local government area of Niger state.
The bandits stormed the community on motorcycles early Thursday morning, the co-convener Concerned Shiroro Youths, Sani Abubakar Kokki, told journalists in Minna.
He said people of the community scampered into the bush when the bandits started shooting sporadically.
Kokki said the community is yet to ascertain how many people have been abducted, but said they may not be less than 50 people.
He appealed to the authorities to come to the aid of the people of Shiroro local government areas, as they live in fear due to endless bandits attacks.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Niger State Command, Abiodun Wasiu, said he hasn’t received details of the incident.
