Several bandits have been killed and many others injured when two bandits’ groups, Mani Sarki camp and Dankarami camps, clashed at Illela village, Safana local government of Katsina state.
Reports said the bandits clashed on Thursday over abduction of a wife of one of Dankarami men by Sarki younger brother, and seizure of anti-aircraft and ammunitions belonging to Dankarami group by the Sarki group when they repelled an attack launched by Dankarami group on Illela village sometimes back.
It was learnt that Mani Sarki, the leader who had since accepted the government’s amnesty had been residing in Illela village.
Reports said Dankarami formed alliance with Dangwate and Mai Komi groups, who see Sarki leader as a betrayer for accepting the government amnesty, and launched a reprisal attack on Illela at about 5pm on Thursday, to retrieve their anti-aircraft gun and ammunitions.
In the attack, reports said Sarki’s younger brother, identified as Chirwa, and his wife were killed and several other people were injured. The number of casualties from the Dankarami group was not yet known, but sources said scores of the gang members were killed.
