Katsina state Commissioner for Education, Professor Badamasi Lawal Charanci, has lambasted parents of government school students for not appreciating the state government in its efforts to revive the sector.
Mr. Charanci was speaking Tuesday afternoon during a press briefing at the State Secretariat.
He was recently criticized by several Civil Society Organizations and parents in the state over the refusal by the state government to settle NECO exams fees which led to the withholding of students’ results in the state.
He lamented that the Masari’s administration has spent billions to revive the education sector but parents and students have not reciprocated the gesture.
He said ”no parent or student has ever visited or written to the ministry to say thank you for the students performance in public examinations”
The commissioner said: “If it was a mass failure that was recorded a lot of people would have been quick to condemn the government and the ministry.”
He said 73 percent of students from the state have passed their secondary school leaving examinations due to “Masari’s efforts to uplift the education sector.”
Mr. Charanci called on parents to fear God and commend the state government for what it has done.
