Bandits have kidnapped a Catholic priest, Luka Yakusak, in Southern Kaduna.
The priest is in charge of St Matthew’s Catholic Church, Anchuna village, Zangon Kataf local government in Kaduna state.
Mr Yakusak was abducted when bandits invaded the community around 8pm on Monday.
The village is the hometown of Mr Matthew Kukah, the Catholic bishop of Sokoto diocese.
Sources said the bandits shot sporadically when they invaded the community before heading to the official residence of the Catholic priest.
THere is no statement yet from Mohammad Jalige, the spokesperson of the Kaduna state police command.
However, Luka Binniyat, spokesperson of the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU), has confirmed the abduction of the priest.
“Yes, I can confirm that a Catholic priest in Achuna, Bishop Kukah’s village was abducted on Monday at about 8pm,” he said.
