Kaduna State Deputy Governor Hadiza Balarabe, on Saturday, ended the opposition PDP’s decades-long dominance in her local government of Sanga, by clearing the chairmanship and eight of the 11 councilorship seats.
Sanga, the local government of origin of Dr Balarabe, has been a stronghold of the Peoples’ Democratic Party for a very long time.
The deputy governor, however, altered the political equation in the just concluded local council elections.
While announcing the result on Sunday in Gwantu, the headquarters of Sanga, the returning officer of the election in the area, Yakubu Boyingwai, said the APC candidate scored 21,854, to outpoll his closest competitor, Samuel Shamaki of PDP, who polled 12,832 votes.
The APC also won eight of the 11 councilorship seats in the local government.
