The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) says it has begun tracking constituency projects
executed by members of the National Assembly representing Kano State constituencies, as the third phase of its ‘Constituency and Executive Projects Tracking Exercise’.
ICPC Chief Assistant Superintendent in Kano office, Bukar Galadima, who led his team on a visit to Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency, on Thursday said they were in the area to track distributions of over 120 Motorcycles as empowerment to politicians and community members purchased by a federal lawmaker, Ali Datti Yako as Constituency project in 2020.
He said the visit was part of the commission’s efforts to track and investigate the processes of the constituency projects already ongoing in 17 states, which include Katsina, Kano, Sokoto, Yobe, Adamawa, Plateau, and Kogi.
Others are Benue, Ondo, Osun, Lagos, Bayelsa, Akwa Ibom, Enugu, Edo, Anambra and Imo, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Galadima said the Constituency projects tracking exercise in Kano would focus on key sectors including agriculture, education, power, health, water resources and empowerments.
Galadima said cases of diversion of project funds from Kiru/Bebeji Federal Constituency and other Constituencies in Kano will be thoroughly investigated.
“The tracking exercise would also help, among others, to improve service delivery to the people, and ensure the full execution of all projects, and guarantee value for money in the implementation of the projects,” he said.
