The Peoples Democratic Party has demanded a probe of the four immediate-past service chiefs to unravel the circumstances behind the security lapses during their tenure.
The party said the probe should include accusations of involvement in the alleged looting of funds meant for the equipping and welfare of our troops in the frontline.
President Muhammadu Buhari appointed new service chiefs on Tuesday after much pressure from Nigerians for him to bring in fresh hands to solve insecurity in the country.
The party in a statement on Tuesday by party’s National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, said the President acted late in appointing new service chiefs, “after much damage has been done.”
The PDP said probing the former service chiefs was a ”sure step towards sanitizing the security architecture as well as lifting the morale of those in the front lines risking their lives for the security of our nation.”
