The All Progressives Congress (APC) says the new Service Chiefs need public support to succeed in their constitutional role.
A statement on Tuesday by the party’s National Secretary Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, John Akpan Udoedeghe also called for increased synergy among the armed forces in achieving these tasks.
It said recent incidents in the country have triggered quite divisive rhetoric in some quarters, which it said is counterproductive and dangerous to national security..
“In tackling security threats, we should criminalise crime, not ethnicity,” the APC said.
