Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike has advised the new service chiefs to avoid politicizing security by aligning with politicians.
He said this in a statement by the state’s Commissioner for Information and Communication, Paulinus Nsirim, following the appointment of new service chiefs by President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday.
The governor urged the new service chiefs to see their appointment as an opportunity to re-engineer the nation’s security architecture, which he said has suffered a tremendous setback in the last five years.
“What the country needs now is competence and professionalism that will reduce insecurity to the barest minimum,” he said.
