The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Uche Secondus, on Thursday, paid a visit to the former President Olusegun Obasanjo in Abeokuta over an internal crisis threatening his leadership.
Key stakeholders comprising the party’s elders, Board of Trustees, governors and National Assembly caucus had to meet recently to prevent the removal of Secondus from office.
Part of the consensus was to shift the date of the national convention to October from December earlier slated, while the Secondus-led National Working Committee (NWC) was expected to step down at the end of their tenure.
It was learnt that Secondus’s visit to the former president may not be unconnected with the lingering crisis.
The national chairman arrived at Obasanjo’s Penthouse residence at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta at 12:19pm.
He is presently in a closed-door meeting with Obasanjo.
