Nine people, including a woman, have been killed and six others injured in bandits attack on some villages in Birji ward in Goronyo local government area of Sokoto state.
Several livesticks were also rustled by the assailants during the attack, a security source told 21st CENTURY CHRONICLE.
He gave the names of the affected villages as Bejingo, Dantudu, and Tulutu all in Birjin ward.
Sokoto State has witnessed rising cases of bandit attacks that had led to the deaths of many residents, in recent times.
In May 2021, at least 22 people were killed in separate bandit attacks on communities in Rabah and Sabon Birni local local government areas of the state.
On July 15, two soldiers were killed and and five civilians injured at Unguwar Lalle village in Sabon Birni local government area of the state.
On July 26, bandits killed two people and abducted over 60 travellers along the Sokoto-Gusau highway.
The bandits attacked many vehicles including one belonging to the Sokoto Mass Transit.
