Henceforth herdsmen in Ondo state will no longer take their flocks for grazing at night, neither will they occupy government forest reserves.
These were parts of agreementss reached by Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) at a meeting with the Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF), led by Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi, on Monday.
The socio-cultural organisation also agreed at the meeting in Akure, Ondo State, not to engage under age children for grazing.
Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo state last week issued a 7-day ultimatum to herdsmen to vacate government forest reserve, a proclamation that generated faceoff between Northern and South West leaders.
A meeting was, however, held on Monday at the instance of the NGF to find lasting solutions to the incessant killings, kidnapping and crises between herdsmen and farmers in the state.
