The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Saturday quizzed former Senate President Bukola Saraki over allegations of fraud.
A source told 21st CENTURY CHRONICLE that Saraki, a Kwara State governor from 2003 to 2011, was quizzed
on Saturday.
Saraki who heads the Senate from 2015 and 2019, was earlier charged with false asset declarations but acquitted by the Supreme Court in June 2018.
A source said Saraki was earlier invited by the anti-graft agency but pleaded formally that he would honour the invitation on Saturday when he comes to Abuja for a wedding of the former Kwara Governor Shaba Lafiagi’s son.
Saraki, it was learned, was to answer questions over allegations of theft and laundering of public funds using proxy companies.
An official said the commission is probing former Kwara governor Abdulfatah Ahmed, and Saraki was only invited to clarify some issues.
