Cholera has killed at least 161 people and 191 others hospitalised as the disease ravages 41 of the 44 local government areas of Kano state.
The Director of Public Health in the state Ministry of Health, Dr Ashiru Rajab, disclosed this to journalists on Wednesday.
He said the fatalities were recorded within the last three months in the state.
The director said a total of 5,221 persons were affected with the disease, while about 4, 860 have been discharged.
Dr Rajab said about 191 persons affected were currently receiving treatments in various health facilities in the state.
He said Kano state government had embarked on massive sensitization and enlightenment campaign to the general populace especially in the villages on how to checkmate the disease.
