Sweden beat New Zealand 2-0 at Miyagi Stadium to register its second win in Women’s Tokyo Olympic football and currently sits on top of group G.
Anna Anvegard scored the first goal with a header from very close range to the bottom right corner. He was assisted by Olivia Schough with a cross following a corner to give Sweden the lead 17 minutes into the game.
Assisted by Hanna Bennison with a cross, Madelen Janogy later double the lead before the break with a header from the center of the box to the center of the goal post,
All efforts after the restart was void as both teams defended amicably, leaving Sweden with a deserved 3 points.
In other games, the United States played a goalless draw with Australia. Canada vs Great Britain, Chile vs Japan, Brazil vs Zambia and Netherlands vs China PR games will be played later Tuesday.
