Police operatives in Niger State have killed 10 bandits when they repelled an attack on Kundu, a community in the Rafi local government area of the State.
Two police officers also lost their lives in the gun duel between the bandits and the operatives.
A resident of the community disclosed this when the Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello, accompanied by the Brigade Commander, Brigadier General Ademola Adedoja, and the State Commissioner of Police, Adamu Usman, visited the community on Sunday to sympathize with the police officers and appreciate them for their sacrifice.
“I would like to congratulate you for the fine job you are doing and I’m assuring you that whatever you need to discharge your duties more effectively, we will provide it,” he said.
“Please, I want you to be frank with me and I will do everything within my power to ensure that you people get what you need.”
Bello said his administration was committed in helping the security forces in securing the State.
He disclosed that the state government had made arrangements for some equipment, which he said will be handed over to security forces to fight the criminals.
