The governors of the states in the South West will on Monday meet with the leadership of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) to find a lasting solution to the faceoff between Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo state and herders, and the crisis in Oyo state.
Akeredolu had last week issued a 7-day ultimatum to herders to vacate forest restrves within one week or face some consequences. The development ignited confrontations between some Youruba leaders and Arewa leaders, on the legality of such order by a governor.
The Ondo State Chairman of MACBAN, Alhaji Bello Garba, who confirmed the development, said the national leadership of the association had arrived in Akure in preparation for the peace meeting.
