Not less than 3,000 people have fled their various communities as bandits unleashed mayhem on 12 villages in Paikoro local government of Niger state.
The gunmen also killed six people while 20 others sustained various degrees of injury in several attacks that occurred from Friday to Sunday.
The communities attacked by the bandits include Amale, Beni, Barakwai, Kakuri, Gudani, Abolo, Nani, Gwajau, Kubi, Zakolo, Kado and Dakolo.
A resident of one of the villages who identified himself as Abubakar Azaido told journalists that over 200 bandits invaded the villages on motorcycles, and carted away food stuff and other valuables.
It was gathered that over 200 cows have been rustled by the bandits, and moved towards villages bordering Niger and Kaduna states.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Niger state police command, ASP Abiodun Wasiu is yet to confirm the incident.
