The six-time Ballon d’Or winner is set to take an incredible 50 percent wage cut which will enable sign a new five-year contract at Barcelona.
Messi has spent his entire career in Barcelona, having made his debut for the club in 2004, but dropped into the free agency pool at the start of July after reaching the end of his contract.
The 34-year-old Argentine agreed to halve his annual salary by 50 percent in order to resign for the club with the likes of Junior Firpo, Jean-Clair Todibo, Carles Alena and Juan Miranda, subsequently
sold to raise extra funds.
League President, Javier Tebas, had earlier warned that Barca could not legally register Messi without significantly reducing its salary costs.
