The Lagos State Police Command says it has arrested more suspects linked to the murder of late Super TV proprietor, Usifo Ataga.
Ataga, 50, was killed on June 15 at an apartment in Lagos while spending a weekend with his lover, Chidinma Ojukwu, 21.
The state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, disclosed this on Wednesday while briefing journalists at the command’s Headquarters in Ikeja.
Odumosu didn’t disclose the number of suspects arrested, but said the case was progressing and promised that the police would not compromise on it.
He said the principal suspect, Ojukwu, was still a suspect with her rights guaranteed by the constitution, and dismissed allegations of giving the suspect soft landing by the police.
“We have established a case of conspiracy in the murder and we have arrested more suspects,” he said.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE reports that Ojukwu had earlier confessed to have stabbed the deceased to death before stealing his belongings. She later refuted her statement claiming she returned from an errand to find him lying in a pool of his blood.
