Bandits have abducted Habibu Mainasara, Provost of the College of Agriculture and Animal Science (CAAS), Bakura in Zamfara State.
This is coming hours after President Muhammadu Buhari directed the military to launch a crushing offensive on the bandits.
Buhari was reacting to Thursday’s killing of over 40 people by bandits in multiple attacks on five communities in Maradun, in Anka local government of the state.
Bakura is the hometown of the first civilian Governor of the state, Ahmad Sani Yarima; while Maradun is where incumbent Governor Muhammad Bello Matawalle hails from.
The provost, it was learned, was abducted alongside two other persons in the wee hours of Sunday.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE gathered that those abducted alongside the provost are Kabiru Usman, a staff of Government Science Secondary School, Bakura, and a local from Sabon Gari village, Mustapha Sarkin Tasha.
