House of Representatives member, Dr Ottah Agbo (PDP, Ado/Ogbadibo/Okpokwu), has urged people of his constituency to remain peaceful and law abiding following the nullification of traditional titles recently bestowed on him and other prominent sons of Idoma.
The Ezza Ezekunna in Inikiri, Ulayi District of Ado Local Government of Benue State had on January 3, 2021, bestowed traditional titles on Sen. Abba Moro, Dr. Agbo, Ado local government chairman, Mr. James Oche and Mr. Edwin Ochai for their contribution to the development of Idoma land.
The titles were, however, nullified by Chief Douglas Ogenyi Ocheme, who superintends Zone B, comprising Ulayi district under which the titles were conferred. Ocheme said due process was not followed before conferring the titles on the beneficiaries.
A statement weekend by Rep Agbo’s spokesperson, Andrew Agbese, said the lawmaker had taken the situation in good faith.
He urged the Ado Traditional Council, Ezza Ezekuna and critical stakeholders in the area to put behind them the controversy surrounding the propriety or otherwise of the chieftaincy titles, and sustain the existing age-long cordial relationship between them.
