The federal government will begin the evacuation of Nigerians stranded in Soudi Arabia from January 28, 2021.
Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Abike Dabiri-Erewa, disclosed this on Friday.
The development came after a viral video on social media showing some Nigerians stranded in Saudi Arabia seeking help to return home.
Dabiri-Erewa called them “irregular migrants”, adding that they will be evacuated on the 28th and 29th of January, “pending any unforeseen issues.”
She said their evacuation was delayed due to issues relating to COVID-19.
“We appeal to Nigerians to resist travelling abroad without proper documents,” she said.
