The principal of Federal Government College, Birnin Yauri, Almustapha Ayuba Sokoto, says 102 students were abducted by bandits when they stormed the school on Thursday.
Ayuba confirmed this to the Emir of Yauri, Dr Zayyanu Abdullahi, when he paid a sympathy haty visit to the school on Friday.
The bandits invaded the school Thurday afternoon, overpowered the security men at the gate, killed one policeman, and abducted several students and teachers.
The Special Adviser on Security to the Kebbi State governor, Rabi’u Kamba, had on Friday told journalist that a teacher and eight students out of those abducted by bandits were rescued by the joint security task force.
His statement came few hours after the Deputy Force Commander of the Joint Task Force, Air Commodore Abubakar Abdulkadir, disclosed that an exchange of fire between bandits and soldiers had left one of the students killed, while four students and a teacher were rescued.
Ayuba told the emir that the abducted students were mostly from SS1 and SS2, including four academic staff and four none academic staff.
He confirmed that eight of the abducted students and a teacher have been rescued, unfortunately one female student from Wushihi Niger State died from asthma attack while two boys from same state were killed due to exhaustion.
