The Police say it has arrested a suspected bandit around Kudaru forest in Saminaka, Lere local government area of the state.
Police spokesperson, Muhammed Jalige, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday.
He said the bandits, Bello Abubakar, was arrested during a shoot out.
Jalige said the police intercepted a vehicle with Registration Number KAG 142 AA, the suspect and his gang member were traveling in heading towards Kaduna.
“The Operatives noticed the suspicious disposition of the occupants of the said vehicle and tried to flag them down; they immediately parked some distance away and took to their heels into the forest,” he said.
“The Policemen however engaged them in a shootout of which they succeeded in apprehending one Bello Abubakar and when the vehicle was searched, an AK47 rifle was found concealed in a bid to escape the eagle eyes of the security forces along the route.
“The suspect is currently undergoing thorough investigation and is giving useful information to the Police while concerted effort is ongoing with the view to apprehending the fleeing members of the gang to face the full wrath of the law.
“The Command is assuring members of the public that it will do everything possible to ensure that members of the gang are dislodged and their operational weapons recovered while charging officers and men to be vigilant at all times to effectively police their areas of responsibilities.”
