The Katsina state government says it is spending N74 billion to construct and rehabilitate 1,378 kilometers of roads in the state.
Commissioner for Works and Housing, Tasi’u Dandagoro, who disclosed this on Tuesday, while conducting the state Governor Aminu Masari round road projects in Sandamu local government area.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE reports that the state government had recently awarded a three kilometers road at the cost of N962 million, the highest in the Northwest so far.
Dandagoro said the present administration inherited numerous road projects from previous administrations, and has spent N6.1 billion on 13 inherited road projects alone
He said the government has also awarded 71 road projects including 39 rural feeder roads covering 461 kilometers at the cost of N2.8 billion.
“The total number of roads that are under construction by the present administration under the leadership of our Governor, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari, when completed, Katsina State Government would have spent a total of about N74 billion for the construction and rehabilitation of 1,378 kilometres of roads across the state,” Dandagoro said.
“We also have rehabilitation projects of about 18 number projects where this government would spend over N16 billion for their construction. And the rest of the amount is the amount to be spent on new projects awarded by this government.”
