Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) on Wednesday suspended its 65-day old strike.
ASUP’s National Publicity Secretary, Abdullahi Yalwa, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday.
He said the decision to suspend the strike after appraisal of the report indicating the gradual implementation of the items contained in the Memorandum of Action signed between the Union and the Federal Government.
The ASUP had on April 6 declared an indefinite strike to demand the implementation of a new salary scheme for polytechnic lecturers.
The union is also demanded payment of salaries and promotion allowances owed lecturers by some state governments.
