Six people, including a policeman, have been killed and several others wounded in a bandits’ attack on Zandam village in Jibia local government area of Katsina State.
A local source, Maigari Farfaru, told 21st CENTURY CHRONICLE that the bandits numbering over hundred also set some parts of the community ablaze during the attack, which happened Monday evening.
Maigari said the bandits operated for hours before a team of security operatives arrived.
“We are still counting the number of people not seen. Some of them must have gotten scared and ran into the bush,” he said.
Spokesperson of the state police command, Gambo Isa confirmed the attack in a statement.
He said three locals, all male and a policeman, lost their lives in the encounter, while three bandits were also killed by policemen.
He said reinforcement has been deployed to the area.
