Kebbi State Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu says government will enforce strict regulation of marine transportation in the state.
The decision came after the death of over 156 people in a boat mishap that involved 180 passengers along Malale river in Ngaski local government area of Kebbi State.
The governor who disclosed this on Saturday in a statement by his media aide, Abubakar Mu’azu Dakingari, announced the donation of the sum of N11 million to the families of victims.
The Area Manager of the Nigerian Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA) in the state, Birma Yusuf, had on Friday disclosed that 76 bodies had been recovered.
