Emir of Kano Aminu Ado Bayero has appointed his elder brother, Alhaji Sanusi Ado Bayero, as the new Galadiman Kano.
This is following the death of late Galadiman Kano Abbas Sanusi.
The appointment was contained in a letter signed by Alhaji Awaisu Abbas Sanusi, senior administrative officer of the Kano Emirate Council.
The letter stated that Bayero’s appointment followed the council’s meeting chaired by Emir Aminu held on Wednesday, April 16, 2025.
It can be recalled that Sanusi was crowned as Ciroma of Kano, member of the Kano Emirate Council and District Head of Gwale by his late father Emir of Kano Ado Bayero.
After the new emirate law of Kano Emirate, and the removal of Sanusi and subsequent enthronement of his younger brother, Aminu Ado Bayero as Emir in July, 2020, Sanusi Ado was reinstated his position in the Kano Emirate Council and made Wamban Kano.
Sanusi received a bachelor’s degree in law in 1983, and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1984 and had served in the services of Kano State government from 1985-2015, reaching the pinnacle position of permanent secretary.
He was appointed the Managing Director of the Nigerian Port Authority, a position he held until his removal in August 2015.
