The police said the 18-year-old girl, Bilkisu Ali, whose corpse was found at a Yobe State Government lodge in Damaturu on January 7, 2021, died of drug abuse.
A statement by the Yobe State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, ASP Dungus Adulkarim, on Tuesday said the autopsy confirmed a drug overdose.
The police said on January 7 that four people were arrested in connection with the girl’s death.
The police earlier said it had detained a man who claimed to be an employee of the Ministry of Police Affairs and four others over the death of the 18-year-old girl.
There were reports that the girl might have died of excessive sexual activity.
“Four suspects are in our custody over a charge of homicide.
“The charges of the case will come out clearly after an autopsy is carried out on the body,” ASP Abdulkarim had said.
The statement said the four suspects would be arraign in court on charges of conspiracy to commit a crime, murder and adultery.
