The Kaduna State Pilgrims Welfare Agency has appealed to the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) for continued support in ensuring a successful Hajj operation this year.
A delegation from the agency, led by the Administrative Secretary Malam Baba Mohammed Rufa’i, representing Executive Chairman Malam Salihu Abubakar, visited NAMA officials at the Hassan Usman Katsina International Airport in Kaduna today.
This was contained in a statement issued by the agency’s Yunusa Muhammad Abdullahi, Public Relations Officer in the state.
He explained that during the visit, Malam Salihu Abubakar expressed gratitude for NAMA’s crucial role in the success of past Hajj operations and requested similar cooperation for the upcoming 2025 pilgrimage.
He emphasized the importance of seamless logistics and urged NAMA to facilitate the provision of all necessary infrastructure to prevent any disruptions during the airlift of pilgrims.
In response, Alhaji Abdulmajid Mohammed, the Air Traffic Manager of the airport, acknowledged NAMA’s commitment to supporting the airlift of Kaduna State pilgrims. However, he highlighted the ongoing issue of the incomplete new control tower at the airport.
He also noted the operational limitations imposed by frequent power outages, which currently restrict the airport’s operating hours to before 5 pm.
Despite these challenges, Alhaji Abdulmajid assured the Pilgrims Welfare Agency that NAMA is dedicated to ensuring a smooth and efficient airlift process for all pilgrims departing from Kaduna.
He affirmed that all possible measures are being taken to minimize potential hitches and facilitate a successful Hajj journey.
