The Rivers State House of Assembly has accused Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu, of gross misconduct.
The lawmakers stated this in a letter addressed to Fubara and his deputy, justifying their actions based on the Nigerian Constitution.
The notice reads, “In compliance with Section 188 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999 (as amended) and other extant laws, we the undersigned members of the Rivers State House of Assembly hereby forward to you a Notice of Gross Misconduct by the Deputy Governor of Rivers State in the performance of the functions of her office.”
Both the executive and legislative arms have been in a hide and seek game since last week over the resubmission of the 2025 budget.
It would be recalled that Gov Fubara who had gone to the Assembly complex to resubmit the budget proposal met the venu closed.
No sooner had he left that than Speaker of the Rivers House of Assembly, Martin Amaewhule, reopened the Chamber, had a brief plenary and went on an indefinite recession.
