Muslims in Nigeria have been asked to look out for the new moon of Ramadan on Friday, February 28, 2025, corresponding to Sha’aban 29. 1446AH in the Islamic calendar.

Wali Junaidu, said the Sultanate Council of Sokoto gave the advice, adding that moon sighting was significant in determining the start of Ramadan, the sacred month of fasting, prayer, and spiritual devotion.
The statement read: “Muslims who sight the crescent are urged to report their observations to their nearest District or Village Head for onward communication to His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, the Sultan of Sokoto.
Muslims who sight the new Ramandan crescent were told to reach the Sultanate Council through the following lines 08037157100, 08066303077, 08035965322, 08099945903, and 07067146900
The council also prayed thus: “May Allah (SWT) help us in the discharge of this religious duty. Amen.”
