Kidnappers are demanding N350 million before they can free the Director of Administration at the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Secretariat Dr. Adekunle Raif Adeniji, who is in their custody.
The abductors reportedly reached his family, and are insisting that the payment be made for his freedom.
An anonymous family member told DAILY TRUST that the director and others were still being held, and that he will not be released until the money is paid.
Gunmen armed with AK-47 seized Adeniji two weeks ago in the Chikakore area of Kubwa, within Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
He was kidnapped along with three others, including his brother, the wife and son, during the attack when he went to visit his brother.
The gunmen killed his brother’s wife, Madam Esther, and her corpse was discovered around Ijah-Gbagyi community in Tafa Local Government Area of Niger State the following morning.
Dr. Adeniji, who was appointed as Director of Administration in August 2024, took over after the resignation of the former Director, Prof. Alaba Adediwura.
His appointment was officially confirmed in a letter issued by the party’s National Secretary.
Chikakore is a community on the outskirts of Kubwa, and about 30 kilometers from the centre of Abuja.
