An Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP Shafi’u Bawa, attached to 61 Police Mobile Force, Kontagora, Headquarters of Kontagora LGA of Niger State, has committed suicide.
The ASP reportedly committed the act on Saturday afternoon.
His father, Malam Usman Bawa, found the lifeless body of his son hanging from the ceiling of his room and reported the matter at the Kontagora police division.
The spokesperson for the Niger State Police Command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, who confirmed the development, the reason why the ASP committed the suicide was yet to be ascertained.
“The body was removed and released to the family for burial. The incident is under investigation to ascertain the reason for such action.”
