Eleven people have been killed when bandit attacked Tsatskiya community in Safana local government area of Katsina State.
Three people were wounded and being treated in Dutsin Ma General Hospital.
Sources told our correspondent that the attack, which occurred Saturday afternoon, was perpetrated by bandits believed to be avenging a mob action against one of their informants.
The source told 21st CENTURY CHRONICLE that on reaching the village, the bandits, who were on motorcycles, started shooting sporodically, killing eleven people.
He added that the attack was the bandits way of making a statement against targeted people consider to be loyal to them, stressing that four days ago, a person found out to be one of their informants was killed in a village called Hakon Kartakawa.
21st CENTURY CHRONICLE gathered that residents of Tsatskiya and other villages were fleeing their homes to seek refuge in Dutsin Ma town, believed to be more secured than Safana.
The state’s police spokesman, Gambo Isa, confirmed the attack in a phone interview, but said “only three people were killed.”
