Kano ruling party, the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), lost over 2,000 members to the opposition party the All Progressive Congress (APC) during the weekend in Dawakin Kudu local government area of Kano State.
Addressing the decampees, the state APC Secretary Malam Ibrahim Zakari Sarina, who represented the state party chairman Abdullahi Abbas during the event, said the development is an indicator that Kano state is for APC in 2027. According to him, the people are eager to witness 2027, a year they will take what is rightfully theirs.
“Be patient my people, we know, as NNPP members you are not happy with the way and manner the affairs of Kano state are being conducted. As you decamped to our party, we are sure many of you were at one point members of APC, you are opportune to have witnessed the differences between the two. Be rest assured, you are welcome,” he said.
While speaking on behalf of the decamped members Sulaiman Dalibi, stated that, they have joined NNPC with the hope that it will change the narratives and the people of Kano state in general and that of Dawakin Kudu would have better opportunities to live a better life, but what was obtainable was something worth writing nothing.
“Today and at this moment, I want to categorically state that I and these gatherings of over 2000 NNPP members have now moved to APC. The struggle for a better Kano will continue under a just democratic dispensation,” he said.
The reception of the NNPP members into APC was conducted before the former House of Representative member that represented Dawakin Kudu and Warawa the federal constituency Mustapha Bala Dawaki among other APC top officials in the state.
