Katsina State Government is to repatriate over 7,000 almajirai to their states of origin, including those from neighboring Niger Republic.
Chairman State Committee on Data Collation of Allo Schools, Alhaji Hussaini Adamu Karaduwa, revealed this while handing over the first batch of 21 almajirai repatriated to Kaduna State.
Kaduna State Commissioner of Human Services and Social Development, Hajiya Hafsat Muhammad Baba, received the pupils on behalf of Governor Nasiru El-Rufa’i.
The Chairman of the Committee was accompanied by the Special Adviser on Higher Education, Malam Bashir Usman Ruwan Godiya, Director, Security Alhaji Ibrahim Daku and other members of the committee.
Karaduwa, who is the Special Adviser on Empowerment Promotion, explained that the repatriation of the almajirai followed an agreement reached by the Northern Governors Forum on the need to return all almajiri pupils to their states of origin.
