The Accommodation Committee for 2024 National Qur’anic Recitation Competition has picked Kauran Gwandu Hajj Camp, Birnin Kebbi for accommodation of 296 Qur’anic reciters across Nigeria.
Kebbi Commissioner for Environment, Alhaji Musa Tungulawa, who is also the Committee’s Chairman, stated this during a facility inspection tour at Kauran Gwandu Hajj Camp, in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday.
Kebbi is hosting the 2024 National Qur’anic Recitation Competition, where each state of the federation and the federal capital territory is expected to feature eight participants.
Tungulawa said that the committee was satisfied with the facilities at the Hajj camp, adding that the camp had enough rooms required to accommodate the entire participants, who would converge on Birnin Kebbi from Dec. 18 to 27.
“I want to use this medium to thank Gov. Nasir Idris of Kebbi for accepting to host the National Qur’anic Recitation Competition. Main committee was set-up under the Chairmanship of His Royal Highness, Emir of Argungu., Alhaji Isma’il Muhammadu-Mera.
“Following this development, sub-committees were established. To God Almighty be the glory, I was appointed to Chair Accommodation Committee,” he said.
The commissioner noted that the essence of the inspection tour was to ascertain the viability and comfortability of the camp to accommodate the Qur’anic reciters from across the country.
He said: “The committee is satisfied with what it saw in the camp. The camp possessed more than enough accommodation for the expected reciters.”
Conducting the committee round, the Secretary, Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Alhaji Sani Labbo-Raha led them from one room to another for proper inspection.
Members of the committee led by Tungulawa inspected not only the number of rooms and their sizes, but also ventilation, serenity of the environment as well as water availability.
